SOMATH (legally School of Math) is a small math school on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. We work with families and children, so we treat the information you share with us with care. This page is written in plain English so you can read it in five minutes and know exactly what's going on.
What we collect
We only collect information you give us directly — usually through our free evaluation form, by email, or by phone. That includes:
- Parent or guardian name, email, and phone number
- Student first name and grade
- Goals, concerns, or notes you choose to share with us
- Any messages you send to hello@schoolofmath.us or via our contact form
We do not currently use cookies, tracking pixels, analytics scripts, or advertising trackers on schoolofmath.us. If that ever changes, we'll update this policy and tell you what's new.
How we use it
We use the information you share with us to do the things you'd expect a small school to do:
- Schedule and run your free 30-minute evaluation
- Recommend the right class or test-prep track for your child
- Communicate about enrollment, schedules, and tuition
- Send occasional updates about classes, semesters, or events you've asked about
We do not sell your information. We do not share your contact details with marketers, advertisers, or anyone else outside the operations described below.
Children's privacy
SOMATH works with students in grades 1–12, which means we sometimes receive information about minors. We take this seriously.
- The evaluation form is filled out by a parent or guardian — not by the child. By submitting it, you're providing parental consent for us to receive and use your child's first name and grade.
- We do not create online accounts for children. There is no login, no profile, no public page about any student.
- We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13 directly. If you believe a child has sent us information without a parent's knowledge, email hello@schoolofmath.us and we'll delete it.
- Inside our classes, we keep notes on each student's progress (what they're working on, where they're stuck, what's clicking). These notes stay with the teaching team and are used only to teach your child better.
Third parties we use
We rely on a small number of well-known services to actually run the site and answer your messages. We only share what's necessary for each service to do its job.
- Web3Forms — processes our evaluation and contact forms and forwards the contents to our inbox.
- Google Workspace — hosts our hello@schoolofmath.us email and stores the messages you send us.
- Cloudflare — hosts and delivers schoolofmath.us. They see standard web traffic data (IP address, browser, page requested) needed to serve the site.
If we ever add a payment processor (such as Stripe) for tuition, it will handle card information directly — we do not store credit card numbers ourselves.
Your rights
You can ask us, at any time, to:
- Tell you what information we have about you or your child
- Correct anything that's wrong
- Delete your information from our records (we'll keep only what we need to satisfy tax, accounting, or legal obligations)
- Stop sending you any non-essential email
Email hello@schoolofmath.us with your request. We'll confirm within a few business days.
Data security
We take reasonable steps to keep your information safe. The site is served over HTTPS, so anything you submit through a form is encrypted in transit. Email between you and our staff is encrypted in transit by Google. Internally, access to family data is limited to the people who need it to teach or run the school.
That said, no system is perfectly secure. If we ever discover a breach involving your information, we'll let you know promptly.
Updates to this policy
If we change how we handle your information, we'll update this page and change the "last updated" date at the top. For significant changes, we'll also email families who are currently enrolled.
