Terms & Conditions

The fine print, in plain English.

These are the terms that govern using schoolofmath.us and enrolling your child in classes at SOMATH. We've kept them short and direct.

Use of the site

schoolofmath.us is provided for personal, informational use — for families considering or attending our classes. You're welcome to read it, share links, and book an evaluation. You may not:

Free evaluations

Our 30-minute evaluations are free as a courtesy to families considering SOMATH. Booking an evaluation does not enroll your child in a class, and we do not guarantee that every student we evaluate will be a fit for our current schedule.

Enrollment

A student is officially enrolled only once both of the following are complete:

Submitting a form on the website, sending an email, or reserving a spot in conversation does not by itself create an enrollment.

Payments and tuition

Tuition is billed per term or per session and is paid in advance. The specific amount, dates, and payment schedule for your enrollment will be set out in the enrollment agreement you sign. Any add-on services (additional tutoring, test-prep packages) are billed separately and on the same in-advance basis unless we've agreed otherwise in writing.

Refunds

Refund terms — including withdrawal windows, pro-rated refunds, and what happens when SOMATH cancels a class — are described on our Refund Policy page.

Schedule changes

Occasionally we need to reschedule a class — for snow days, building issues, teacher illness, or holidays. When that happens we'll let you know as early as we can and will offer a replacement class or makeup session whenever possible. Holiday closures are published in advance on our calendar.

Code of conduct

SOMATH classrooms are calm, focused, and respectful. We expect every student to treat their teachers and classmates kindly and to come ready to learn. We may, at our discretion, dismiss a student for repeated disruptive or unsafe behavior after at least one conversation with the family. We may also ask any visitor or guardian to leave the premises for behavior that disrupts a class or makes staff or students uncomfortable.

Intellectual property

Our curriculum, lesson plans, problem sets, written materials, methodology, site copy, and brand are the intellectual property of School of Math. Materials we hand to your child are for that student's personal use. Please don't redistribute, photocopy for other tutors, post online, or sell our materials.

Limitation of liability

We work hard to teach math well and to support every family. Even so, SOMATH services are provided as-is, and we cannot guarantee specific outcomes that depend on factors outside our classroom — including test scores, school placements, college admissions, grades, or how a student performs on any given day.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim related to our services is limited to the amount of tuition actually paid for the term or session in which the claim arose.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York. Any dispute arising from them or from your use of our services will be brought in the state or federal courts located in New York County, New York.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The current version will always live on this page with the "last updated" date at the top. Continued use of the site or continued enrollment after a change means you accept the updated terms.
