SOMATH runs the same weekly schedule year-round. Pick a track, pick a time, and start on the next available date — not a fixed September enrollment window. Memberships let you attend weekdays or weekends, and pause or cancel when life shifts. Small in-person groups at 226 W 79th St.
How our classes work
SOMATH runs 10 leveled programs. Little Newtons, Kid Einsteins, and Young Fermats (Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, and Geometry & Trigonometry) run 48-class cycles over 12 months; every other program runs a 24-class cycle that restarts every 6 months. Enroll at any point of your child's level — they'll complete all classes of the cycle, carrying any remaining sessions into the next one. You don't wait for a semester to start. Class formats are tuned to age and stamina: Little Newtons (Grades 1–2) runs 60 minutes, Kid Einsteins (Grades 3–4) runs 90 minutes, and every other program runs the full 2 hours. Pen and paper, small cohorts, personal attention, and regular feedback to parents throughout the cycle. This is not drop-in tutoring — it's a real classroom with a structured program behind it.
Once-a-week weekday classes for grades 1–8, plus high-school SAT Prep on Thursday evenings, SHSAT Prep on Wednesday evenings, and AP Prep on Fridays and weekends.
Saturday or Sunday morning/afternoon slots for grades 1–8, when weekdays are full of school, sports, or commute.
Separate intensive track on its own deadline rhythm. See SHSAT Prep schedule →

The schedule page lists every currently-running class by track and time. If you don't see a time that works for your family, call (646) 668-6151 — we occasionally open new sections when demand justifies it, and can put you on a waitlist for your preferred slot.
Yes, if seats are available in another section of the same track. Send us the slot you'd like to move to and we'll confirm availability within one business day.
SOMATH follows the NYC public school calendar for major holidays (Thanksgiving, winter break, spring break). We stay open on most one-day observances. The full closure calendar is emailed to enrolled families at the start of each semester and posted on this page.
Every SOMATH membership includes one free make-up class per month. Coordinate the make-up with your teacher directly — most sections have another session that week where the child can join.
Yes. Summer runs late June through late August. Programs continue with lighter cadence (usually once per week rather than twice). Summer is a particularly strong time for SHSAT and AP prep — we run intensives that compress a semester of content into 8-10 weeks.
