About the course
AP Calculus AB or BC for 11th–12th graders. We cover limits and continuity, derivatives and their applications, integrals and their applications, and — for BC students — sequences, series, and parametric/polar/vector functions. Every class is aligned to the College Board syllabus and finishes with free-response drills graded on the same rubric as the AP exam.
A typical class
Every AP Calculus AB/BC class follows the same structure so students walk in knowing what to expect and walk out with a corrected mini-quiz in hand.
Warm-up with logic puzzles, math riddles, and short brain-teaser problems. The point is to switch the brain on without yet introducing today’s topic — students arrive at different focus levels and this 30-minute block evens the room.
First half of today’s topic. One AP Calc topic per meeting — limits, derivative rules, applications, integration techniques, or series. Concept-first: the instructor demonstrates one or two worked examples, then students try guided practice with the teacher walking the table.
A short break — water, stretch, a quick chat. Five minutes is enough to reset focus without losing the rhythm of the class.
Second half of the topic, focused on word problems and applications — the place where rote calculus turns into real understanding. Examples we use: computing instantaneous speed from a position function (derivatives); finding the area under a velocity curve (what an integral really means); related rates with shadows, ladders, and conical tanks.
A short timed mini-quiz on today’s topic, then we correct it together — question by question, out loud, with the right strategy spelled out for each item. Parents get the corrected paper at the end of the session so they know exactly where their child stands.

Yes. The course sequence covers everything on both the AP Calculus AB and AP Calculus BC exams. Students preparing for AB stop after unit 8; students preparing for BC continue through parametric equations, polar coordinates, and infinite series. We calibrate the syllabus to each student's target exam during the first month.
